This garden design utilised the dead space on the North side of the house.
By building a deck surrounded by raised beds the area has become a vibrant, lived-in space. It is used frequently for breakfast, lunch and evening meals. |
The entrance to the area from the house is an easy step out from the conservatory. |
The deck is part shaded by a pergola and bamboo screen, to reduce bright sunlight (even being on the North side!). |
The raised beds bring plants up to sitting level, ideal for aromatic plants such as prostrate rosemary. |
The deck area is quite large and the raised beds are the right height to sit on - ideal for entertaining. |
A bubble pool lends a cool and tranquil air to the area. |
Bold foliage surrounds the area as backdrop - mainly grasses and bamboos. |
This old railway bench sits near the deck garden and looks out onto an informal pool of cool green. |
This door, built by a local craftsman, leads away into the adjacent woods, giving a sense of mystery... |
