This garden is a small country cottage garden, whose design focuses around two aspects: the gazebo and the straight path (already existent) that leads to the parking area.
Previous landscaped by another company, there was no focus of coherent design to the overall garden. The gazebo created a suitable spot for sitting or eating, and reflected the slightly formal setting and the client's inclinations. |
The garden viewed from the gazebo. The lawn was removed for low maintenance. |
View back to the house. The gazebo occupies the spot that receives most sun, and is close to the house for convenience. Sun shades were fitted to reduce dazzle. |
The sturdy oak pergola enhances the timber work existing to the parking area beyond, creating a transitional space. |
Variegation is used sparingly, here catching the sunlight in a specimen phormium. |
The gazebo is somewhat intricate and formal, reflecting the taste of the clients. |
This bubble feature was already here, but looked a mess. Simple rearrangement of existing materials made all the difference. |
A small circle of creeping Thymes enhances the shape of a small seating area at the end of the garden. |
Koeleria glauca, a small blue grass of outstanding merit. |
